Wedding reception venue Lancashire

We’re a Reception-Only Wedding Venue in Lancashire

Already said “I do”? Now let’s throw the party.

Whether you married at a registry office, said your vows in church, or eloped somewhere far more exciting than Lancashire, you don’t need a full wedding package to celebrate properly. The Collecting Yard is built for exactly this: a reception-only wedding venue near Preston for couples who want a proper send-off without the traditional ceremony-to-reception conveyor belt.

No aisle. No confetti cannon at 2pm sharp. Just good food, a great sound system, and a space that feels more like the best night of a festival than a hotel function room.

Ceremony elsewhere, party here

We host wedding receptions for couples who’ve married:

  • At a church: arrive straight from the service, or give guests a few hours’ gap before the evening kicks off
  • At a registry office: a quick legal ceremony followed by the celebration you actually want
  • Abroad, or eloped just the two of you: throw a “we’re married!” party for everyone who couldn’t be there, on your own timeline, weeks or months later

However you got married, nobody here is going to ask why there’s no ceremony on the day. It’s genuinely one of the most common enquiries we get.

What “reception here” actually looks like

The Collecting Yard sits on our semi-working farm just outside Preston, and it’s built around one idea: your reception should feel like an event, not a formality.

  • The barn
    • three separate rooms, each holding up to 150 people. Use one or open them all up: a relaxed bar and seating room, a nightclub-style room wired for a 3-piece live band, and a bigger room with a full stage and PA for a 7-piece band or DJ.
  • The yard
    • festoon-lit outdoor space for drinks, mingling, and golden-hour photos, with a 6x12m stretch tent as cover if the weather doesn’t play along.
  • Food
    • our Asado-style open-fire BBQ and wood-fired pizza oven, built for feeding a crowd without a single chafing dish in sight. This is backed by our shipping container kitchen.
  • Sound
    • proper audio throughout, so whether it’s a live band or a DJ set that runs past midnight, it actually sounds good.

Built for the party, not the paperwork

We know reception-only weddings come with their own set of practical questions:

  • Do we need to show a marriage certificate? No, this is your celebration, not the legal ceremony. Book it exactly like any other private event.
  • Can we do speeches, a first dance, the traditional bits – without a ceremony slot? Absolutely. Plenty of our reception-only couples still want the toasts and the first dance; we just build the running order around your party, not a church schedule.
  • What if our ceremony finishes early afternoon? Arrive whenever suits, some couples come straight from the ceremony, others give guests a gap to travel or freshen up before an evening start.
  • Can we throw this weeks or months after we actually got married? Yes, a good number of our bookings are exactly this: an “official party” for an elopement or a small registry-office wedding that happened long before.

Right on Preston’s doorstep

We’re based on a farm just outside Preston, Lancashire, an easy drive whether your ceremony was in the city itself or at a church or registry office further afield. It’s close enough for a same-day move from ceremony to reception, but far enough out to feel like you’ve properly left the everyday behind. Just 3 mins from M55 Jct2

An alternative to the traditional wedding venue

If a marquee, a top table, and a string quartet isn’t really you, this is where reception-only couples tend to end up. We attract a crowd who’d rather have a mini-festival than a formal sit-down do; think a live band in a converted barn, pizza from a wood-fired oven, and fairy lights over a farmyard rather than a hotel car park.

Ready to talk through your date? Get in touch and tell us a bit about your ceremony plans (or lack of them), we’ll help you build the reception around it.
